Touring The Chesapeake fleet, influenced by West Greenland design, is built not only to endure but to relish in a lifetime of serious expedition touring. The bow and stern have a generous end-pour that protects the kayak from those inadvertent collisions. The kayak is completely sheathed with fiberglass cloth; combine that with the 4mm okoume plywood hulls and decks with 6mm watertight bulkhead for heavy-duty use. The cockpit, with our trademark one-piece keyhole coaming rim, is roomy and easy to pad out for a custom fit. Chesapeake™
kayaks are expedition-touring boats that excel in rough water and steep seas but
also find themselves comfortable on slow moving streams and quiet lakes. The
high-volume bow allows the Chesapeakes™ to cruise over big waves. Their
highly cambered foredecks shed water quickly and provide plenty of foot room for
comfortable cockpits. Since the foredeck is highly cambered it allows for those
expedition size loads. The skeg-like stern design assures train-like tracking
and minimal weathercocking. The Chesapeake is easy to lean and turn, handles following seas confidently, and surfs beautifully. The long waterline and substantial rocker assure plenty of speed---you'll leave the plastic boats behind. The Chesapeake 14™ is small but handsome and capable and is ideal for small women and children. Suggested Retail Price $2,955
